An Introduction to ClickBank University

ClickBank University is an overpriced step by step video training course with a yet to come site building software needed to become a successful product developer or affiliate marketer.  The product is intended to help anyone build a thriving online business out of a hobby or passion. Adam and Justin emphasize that you don’t need to be an expert in any subject (niche), that you just need to know a little more than the audience that you’re selling your product to.

The training will teach you how to find out what type of information your audience is looking and are willing to pay for, how to create a profitable product that will save them time and money, and finally, how to upload it to ClickBank to have other affiliates sell it for you so you make passive and residual income online.

A Brief Overview of ClickBank

ClickBank is one of the largest online marketplaces for digital and physical products. It has been around for 16 years and has sold over 300 million products and has paid over $2.5 billion dollars to affiliates and vendors. An affiliate acts like a salesman and promotes and markets other people’s products for a specified commission per sale and a vendor is a product creator that sell their products online. ClickBank does have some low quality products, especially in the E-Business category, but overall, it is a reputable company and many affiliates and vendors have become very successful with them. It’s an honest company with great support.

About the Creators Adam and Justin

Adam Horwitz and Justin Atlan became successful in affiliate marketing at a very young age and moved on to create their own products. They have been awarded the top young entrepreneurs in the United States and have generated millions of dollars from ClickBank alone.

Pros Vs Cons

  • $1 full access 7 day trial.
  • There’s no other upsells, except for the “done for you” sales funnel which you have the option whether you want to pay for it or not.
  • In depth step by step high quality training on becoming a vendor. The University Talks and Q&A live classes are also valuable.
  • The software provided is meant to simplify and speed up the process of product creation and site development.
  • This will set you up with everything you need to build an awesome sales funnel with proven to convert templates for your product including free hosting
  • You’re allowed to post comments under the video trainings
  • Good support

  • It’s expensive
  • The training could use improvement by adding more choices and tutorials, which I’m sure they will in the future. Yes, great training is given on building your product, but you will be highly dependent on other experienced affiliates promoting your products because building an authority website isn’t taught and it’s lacking more detailed training on search engine optimization and how to find keywords.
  • The same goes if you want to start in affiliate marketing and are taught to build a list without having a website first. Creating an online business involves helping people before selling to them if you want to be successful. A website will give you the means to build your brand, your list and a way to help them.
  • Furthermore, a keyword tool isn’t provided within the membership-keywords are essential to your online success.
  • The videos are set in a format to “help you stay on track” so some of the videos are locked. This is a disadvantage for those that learn and move quickly.
  • They only teach you how to sell ClickBank products. If you want to be an Amazon affiliate, you won’t learn how to sell physical products here.
  • The site builder isn’t available yet and this product was launched in March.

My Final Opinion of ClickBank University

ClickBank University overall is for people that want to create their own product and want to have the right tools and training to do just that. While the university is not a scam, I really can’t recommend this product to those that want to get started in affiliate marketing as they don’t have enough training on this. Another huge downside is that they don’t have a keyword tool in which keywords are highly important to build a successful online business. Just remember that the site builder isn’t available yet and for $97, I think you should be getting everything. I really don’t approve of the “done for you” sales funnel.  You should be properly trained to do this yourself and save money. I would recommend Wealthy Affiliate where I have gotten immediate help, have free hosting and unlimited website installs, will learn how to be a successful affiliate, SEO consultant, web developer, or ClickBank vendor for half the cost of what you’ll be paying at ClickBank University.

  1. I am not planning right now to create my own product. If I am not going to be a vendor, don’t you advise me to join Clickbank University?
(Your website look like the guy who owns Wealthy Affiliate :P)

    • No Jazzel. I don’t advise you to join ClickBank University if you’re not planning to be a vendor as the majority of the training is focused on that. Also, their monthly membership fee is two to three times more expensive than Wealthy Affiliate.

I recommend you to join Wealthy Affiliate’s free starter membership and learn as much as possible before deciding on upgrading to Premium 😉

Thank you Jazzel 😛 I thought my website was a bit unique with the free theme I chose, but I’ll take that as a compliment. 🙂

      My best wishes to you.

  2. Hi there Jennifer,
I’m glad I found this site. I’m new at this affiliate marketing thing. I did sign up for CBU, but since, I have cancelled. $97 a month is too much for me. I wasn’t getting much out of the training as a new person just starting out. 7 days to learn was not long enough for me.

    • Hey Steve,

I’m glad that you enjoyed my review. I do have a lot of information here under the IM 101 tab to help you get started. It’s like a mini affiliate marketing course provided for free. 😉

Oh yeah, I do agree. There’s no need to pay that much.
Wealthy Affiliate has a free starter membership and you can remain free for as long as you need to. The Premium membership is $47 monthly or $359 a year that averages out to $30 a month.

No, 7 days is not long enough especially for people that have a full time job.

Thanks for stopping by and my best wishes to you.

  3. Hey Jennifer,

Ever since I got my start with my internet business, I told myself I would try to find legitimate ways to make money online. I am so glad you did this review, because this was my next thing to try.

I am trying to go through all of these things so other people won’t waste their money and time.

$97 is way too high, especially for people just trying to start out.

    Thanks again,

  4. I was just on a webinar last night for the kick off clickbank builder (I guess a part of Clickbank University). They were offering this for $1164 one time fee, but for the webinar special they dropped it to $797. While they were giving their spiel, I decided to check out the website and it says $47/mo. which sounded to me like Wealthy Affiliate. I am not sure if “Clickbank builder” was a part of the fee in Clickbank university, but I felt that the people on the call were getting ripped off, if so. I am going to stick with what I know works and that is giving my all the building my affiliate business with Wealthy Affiliate.

    • Yes, Clickbank builder is part of ClickBank University. Yes, they did drop their price to $47 per month. I’m pretty sure the
ClickBank builder is an upsell. Yes, there’s nothing that compares to Wealthy Affiliate, the only all inclusive platform to build a successful business.

  5. Hi Jennifer,

Great review on a product which has both good and not so good things to offer. Cost on it I think is a bit steep. The fact that the program does not offer a keyword tool offered with the program isn’t a fatal misgiving. There are so many keyword tools out there with a new one, it seems that is introduced almost monthly, that finding keywords for your sites shouldn’t really be a major issue. What is a factor regarding keywords is actually understanding them and how they should be used from a Google perspective.

Thanks again for the great review. I am sure it will and has already helped lots of folks who are considering it.

    • Thanks Dan. No it isn’t,but for the price you’re paying you should be getting everything you need to run your business.

Using keywords isn’t that hard. When starting out a new website, it’s better to use keywords with less than 100 competing pages-the closer to 0 the better. This will help you get rankings and traffic. Then as you build more authority, you can start to target keywords with 300 competing pages. I always try to use ones that are under 500.

To get rankings, just put your keyword in the url or you could use ‘exact match’, in the meta title-preferably in the beginning, mention it naturally within your content, in the beginning of the meta description,in the alt tag and file names of your images.

  6. Very informative, I did not know such university existed, and I loved the review it showed me advantages and disadvantages, I will keep trace and bookmark your web, wish you all the best and I agree WA teaches very well.

  7. I really liked your site very much and what you have done. Very informative and interesting…
I was with ClickBank University before I came to WA. They are in my opinion no comparison to Wealthy Affiliate.
Keep the nice work up Jennifer,
    Linda :))
